Proverbs 24:3-4

Scripture says:

Through wisdom a house is built,
and by understanding it is established;
By knowledge the rooms are filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.

how does Webster’s 1828
define home?

HOMEnoun [Gr. a house, a close place, a place of rest.]

HOME is the sacred refuge of our life.

Paideia Northwest has set aside November 8th to encourage and exhort you to study what the Lord says about our homes & ourselves as keepers of homes, and then to apply His Word’s principles to our daily lives in the realms of homemaking, housekeeping, home decor, hospitality, homeschooling, & more!

Themes & Topics

Isaiah 32:18
My people will dwell in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

set the tone in your home

People say pithy things like “home is wherever you are” and “home is where the heart is” – so as the wife, mama, and homemaker, how do we set the tone in our home? What are biblical priorities? What does the Bible say about our houses anyway?

keep your home for God’s glory

As Christian women, we are called to many things in our broad description of calling displayed in Scripture – not the least of these is the central task of homemaking. We are called to be keepers at home, but what does this mean? How does this description get teeth when it comes to daily routines and life’s schedules? What does it even mean to keep a home in 2025?

Titus 2:4-5
Admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers…

1 Peter 4:9
Be hospitable to one another

without grumbling.

share your home with others

What are we called to do with our home? How do we share it with others? What does it mean to be hospitable? How do we do this winsomely for the sake of Christ and without grumbling?

education at home

Whether or not you homeschool your children, it is undeniable that the home is the first place of education for any child. It is also the place where the children really do learn the most, whether you are formally teaching them there or not. How do we educate ourselves and our children in the home for God’s glory?

Proverbs 31:17
The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the just.

Register Early… right here!

Even though I worked hard to find a bigger location this year, space is still limited – and we definitely have a track record of selling out of tickets quickly, so don’t miss the window of opportunity for purchasing your spot to attend this year’s conference! If you have any inkling of desire to attend this year’s Paideia Northwest conference, please register early. $69 registration is open now through September 30, while tickets last! Please do read our Policies here. If you have registered for Home, you will receive the link to download the recordings for personal use afterward, whether you showed up to the event or not, so you can have lifetime access to this encouragement if you have registered. For those who do attend in person, we are curating a small vendor area to bless and uplift you… and a slew of giveaways that are always a lot of fun! Abide Culture Coffee provides delicious brews for us all day, and we’ve got a new caterer this year to bring us a simple, delicious salad bar/rice bowl luncheon (no more worrying about GF or DF options, just make your own meal!). Plus there is absolutely nothing like face to face fellowship – it is a foundational principle behind the Paideia Northwest vision.

Mystie is now also Grandma to 2! Mystie is a cohost of Scholé Sisters, a podcast for classical homeschooling mamas who want to read, think, and apply for themselves. She also has a website and podcast, Simply Convivial, where she helps moms beat overwhelm & perfectionism through simple baby steps so they can love being homemakers. Her published books include The Convivial Homeschool and Simplified Organization, both available through Amazon.com… with another currently on the press!

Sarah Mackenzie

Sarah Mackenzie is a homeschooling mother of six and a highly sought after speaker at homeschool conferences all over the U.S. Her published books include the USA Today and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller, The Read-Aloud Family, as well as Teaching from Rest. She is the author of several award-winning picture books and the CEO of the boutique publishing house, Waxwing Books.

BONUS event

This year, due to all the complicating factors we encountered with getting a location, we are just not able to offer our free Friday bonus event for friends & family. Stay tuned as we seek the Lord's provision and guidance for the future, as we know these events are a loved tradition. In lieu of this, we highly recommend you gather in small groups with others who are coming to the conference to pray together & share your top 3 tips for all things HOME (hospitality, homemaking, housekeeping, home decor, homeschooling, gardening, or real estate).
And in connection with that, we will have a SPECIAL GIFT to give all of our Paideia Northwest conference registrants in October: a coupon for a $1 month's subscription to the Canon+ app so you can watch (alone or in a group!) one of the home-centric documentaries offered on Canon+. I will specifically recommend Come & See: Tips for Hospitality and Sabbath Dinners OR Read the Room: a Worldview Guide to Interior Design
That right there is a great conversation starter!

location & lodging

Paideia Northwest is committed to hosting this annual conference somewhere along the I-90 corridor between Spokane and Coeur d’Alene. This year, we are grateful to The Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene for allowing us the use of their building. May God bless their ministry!
15515 E 20th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99037

We have a hotel block at Holiday Inn Express at 9220 Mission Ave in Spokane Valley which was available only through October 9th. Please call the Holiday Inn Express on Mission Ave if you have questions or need to make a reservation after that point.

this year’s extra swag

If you order Home swag at the time of your registration, it will be available to pick up when you check in at the conference on November 8th. (If something unforeseen comes up to keep you from attending the event in person, I will be happy to mail it to you after the conference. Just send me an email with your mailing address!)

We have a shirt, magnet, & travel mug available with this year’s graphic incorporated into the design. We will have extra shirts and mugs available for purchase at the conference (as well as for giveaways!), but sizes and quantities are limited, therefore always a surprise. 🙂 When you purchase a shirt, magnet, or mug, the funds go directly toward conference needs to offset the fact that I try to keep registration costs low – and for 2025, these funds allow me to sponsor free tickets to mamas in need. Thank you for helping to support Paideia Northwest so we can continue bringing an annual conference to our region to encourage so many mamas raising their kids for Jesus Christ!

Joshua 24:15
But as for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord.
